Tammy	Spring Auto Update Improve Xbox – versatile and most advanced console New dashboard features Licensing Compliance • Respect global and cultural differences • People only in the US can purchase content from market place • Restrict content based on geographic region by ip address • When attempting to access or download restricted content, they will receive an error message: item not available from current location • KB Article: Description of Licensing Compliance • Information has to add up, console region with account region, etc. • If you think that you are in a country that there should be no restrictions, then call Xbox Support, and get ready with account holder name, gamer tag, and phone number • This only occurs when you are in US and has a US account but it states you are in another country, for example: Germany Window Live for Messenger • Also known as chat • Insta-message Xbox 360 users and people on online pc’s • Has to use existing windows live id – already associated with your account Sign Up • Xbox dashboard • Main screen on Xbox live • Press right on the controllers d-pad to access sign up for messenger window • Must not have a juvenile account • Shows windows live id associated with the gamer tag • Can automatically save password – gives you this option when they sign up • Send friends request screen – can skip this option if they would like • Select contacts – provides check list of windows live messenger contacts with Xbox live gamer tag’s, select and then click on the red B button to continue, goes to the sign up complete screen, customer hits finish and then it goes back to the main screen for chat • Can use USB keyboard, manual keys available in dashboard, or Xbox 360 keypad (not available as of yet) • Family settings to set restrictions on juvenile account – voice and text, can also set status of account, privacy and friends and then change status • Privacy settings, edit gamer profile by pressing the guide button, select voice and text, then they can manage settings • Auto sign in, edit gamer profile by pressing the guide button, select auto sign in and then select whether or not you want auto sign in for windows live messenger • Online status, guide button, personal settings, online status, choose what you would like the online status to say for windows live messenger Potential Concerns Only use live id associated to the gamer tag • If your live id cannot be changed • Ask friends to use this live id • Can also add friends to new live id Cannot sign in to chat • Sign in through pc • Cannot sign in • Contact windows live messenger support • http://www.support.msn.com for status and known issues Friend and contact • some contacts are specific to windows live messenger • friends are specific to Xbox live • contacts are specific to windows live messenger • when you first sign up it tells you which windows live messenger contacts also have Xbox live and will present an option to automatically add those contacts as friends Limitations to chat • Chat provides text messaging only • No voice chat to and from the pc • No live vision or attachment files • Does support some emoticons • Double byte characters may display as being truncated New Feature Spotlight New updates in…. You can change this setting in the system area Family privacy and security settings • Different defaults with voice and video chat • If they cannot communicate with people they once could, suggest to check the family settings option Quick Notes • Achievement notification pop up will show the unlocked achievement and gamer score value. You will see this information the second you attain the achievement • Updates to Xbox live arcade allow owners to see which Xbox live arcade games their friends are playing so they can join in if they want. They can also compare progress or leader-board scores and achievements directly with all friends on their friends list • A new option in auto downloads provides faster access to the entire collection of free, trial version of Xbox Live Arcade games • When you plug in a Zune or other portable media player in your Xbox 360 device and browse the contents of that device and browse the contents of that device, it will display a folder list • When a user selects an item for download on the market place then the system will determine if there is sufficient disc drive space available for the item. If not then it will prompt the user to delete content off the hard drive.
