hgvr Hi,

I´m not getting any replays in the game and no option to select them either.
That happen to anyone else as well?
FYI I´m using a core unit.
Plus my load times are ~25 seconds before every race.
Any other core users experiencing the same?

TIA

jackNjill Man, you don't know what your missing! I was disappointed that there were no replays in the demo unit but once i got the game yesterday i realized why they were holding off.....cause they're amazing!!! When i played Gran Turismo 4 for PS2 i didn't think it could get any better, but with this on HiDef the replays are as real as can get! I have the premium version and i have saved a lot of my replays so far. I think that you need a HDD to view the replays even though you would think they would let you watch but not save.

Hgvr I´m really angry about this as well.
In a racing game, especially one about car tuning and customization, I expect replays when I buy it.
But there´s no remark of this lackluster functions w/o a hd. Neither on the cover, nor in the manual or on forza´s site or forum.
It took me 4 days now to figure this out, surfing, searching and posting. Time I could have spent with the game.

It´s typically MS: first brag about how every game is playable without a hd, then bring out a first party title with crippled functions and not even tell anyone. They expect me now to buy one? To view replays and play demos? I don´t think so.

crackdown It took you only 4 days to figure it out? Wow! You're SO smart!!!! Who'd have thunk it?!?!?!?!?!? Needing a hard drive with a console that's basically a PC? Wow!!! How strange!?!?!

Goddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello!?!?!?!?!? Do you realize how much you miss out on from other games, too? Get a clue! Needing a hard drive is common sense.

jackNjill I can't believe there are actually people playing the 360 without a hard drive. 6/1/2007

Hgvr Well first it took 4 days to confirm it (just suspecting it leaves such an unconvenient feeling behind), which can be difficult if no one in the us has the game yet and the still small european community is virtually non present.

Second, here in Europe (Germany) the 360 is a different topic than in the US.
Our Marketplace is a desolate wasteland.

We get demos, but mostly much later than over at you if at all. Most "violent" games, which means about every shooter you can imagine, gets no demo here.

Gears of war got no DLC here, no map packs, nothing. You can´t log on as a US user anymore, you can´t dl new maps even if you would be willing to pay for them. As a German, you´re standing on the sidelines here.

Got no movies or anything to dl as well. Only some Robbie Williams videos and the usual trailers.

So if I can spare the demos, what would I need the hd for?
Exactly, streaming like here in Forza. Which is not used in any other game, afaik.
If any other games make such use of it, then please name them and the corresponding features.

You might wonder why they´d put an hd into the system if they don´t stream or at least partially install anything. If you don´t believe, pull off your hd and check on the load times of your games. They will not increase. Technically, MS has forced itself by release of a w/o-hd unit to use the 360 like any other console up till now. With Forza 2 being the first exeption.
Truth is, you need the hd 99% of the time for dlc from live. And that we don´t have over here.

Plus our prices here favor buying the core, not by saving just 25% but 33%. In euros, not dollars.
Actually, my used 360 cost me as much as a new PS2 over here. About $220 including MemCard and VGA cable.

I understand why you are wondering about core users, and in the US with your marketplace and its contents, getting the hd is not only the smart move but the right move.
Over here in Germanay, its the other way around. Paying for the hd is wasted money, sick as it sounds.

Terry Green Hvgr,

the issues you are describing with the European marketplace is likely because of copyright laws. In the United States there are a lot of laws setup that Msft had to go to experts on, in order to put the processes in place to setup the American marketplace, where you can download TV shows, movies, etc. With the purchase of Msft pts.

In Canada, for example, we do not have these movies/TV shows the States does because every region has different copyright laws that have to be met to be able to distribute digital content on Xbox Live.

The items you cannot download from the European marketplace (yet) are likely due to these laws. If you don't like it, create an American account.

Terry Green And to summarize, anytime you want to save CONTENT (such as Forza replays) you need a HDD. A MU (Memory Unit) may also work, Msft now has 512 MB MUs available, as well as a 120 GB HDD for close to $200 USD respectively. 6/11/2007
