Xbox live \ Connectivity troubleshooting \ trouble connecting xbox 360 with PC
Author Messages Date Posted
Asha Hello all, I have been trying to established media sharing between my PC and Xbox 360, and despite having tryed everything I can think of and read alot from this forum, I'm still stuck!

I have a Netgear DG834G router connected to my PC via Ethernet, and then I have my Xbox 360 connected via Wireless Adapter to my router. I have Live setup and working fantstic with the router, and have had 0 Live connectivity issues. I have tryed using WMP11 to setup media sharing and I have also tryed Zune, both of which have the same error. Basically when trying to connect via my Xbox 360 I get an error message to the effect of: 'No PC was found that is able to support media sharing', when I tryed to approve a media device for sharing via my PC I am displayed with no devices at all.

I am running XP SP2 with all the essential updates, and I only use Windows Firewall and of which I have made sure the media sharing ports are approved (And they are), I have also tryed adjusting the various services to 'Automatic' under the Adminastrative Tools as per another users recommendation, this too had no effect. The only thing I could think of which may be the cause of my problems is my router, I've only just set it up so I am a little unfamiliar with it still, but basically I have tryed to approve the Xbox 360's IP address for both Inbound and Outbound connectivity, again this did not make any difference.. Is there something I am missing here which I need to approve via my router to allow for connectivity?

Any help greatly received.

Guyshirt While I don't have any answer for you, I would like to let you know you are not alone. I have pretty much the exact same problem, but wired. Also, I can't even get Zune to open up. WMP11 doesn't recognize anything though and neither does the 360. Gets on Live no problem though.

this seems to be a pretty hard issue to get resolved. Go and google some stuff if. Make sure you have all the firewall problem blocked and make sure you have shut down the correct programs.
